What our Members Say

  • "Our exchange partners from Vancouver arrive on the 1st and then we are off across there from the 3rd-15th. On the 15th we fly to Toronto to stay with another Intervac couple who stayed with us earlier this year, to do the sites and then return on the 19th. Intervac is fabulous!" Wendy Taylor
  • "We have exchanged four times this year with Bruges, Copenhagen, Oslo and St Gallen in Switzerland. Two of them were repeat visits as they were so nice. Keep up the good work!" Patrick and Ann White
  • "I just had a 2 week trip in the Rockies, and my next port of call is a hospitality swap with a couple in Kingston Ontario. I was supposed to be doing a few days hosp. swap with someone in Ottawa but that fell through as he is an MP and they called an election! I have had some great swaps since my husband died and I have been travelling alone. I am always singing the praises of Intervac; its getting to be 20 years we have been members" Lynne Brown
  • "We had a very good first year as Intervac members. There were lots of offers and three very successful exchanges with a weekend in Paris, ten days in Lido di Jesolo, which is the Venice seaside, and two weeks in Tours, in the Loire valley." Patricia Judd and Andrew Yeo
  • "We think Intervac is great. It is the only way my family of five can go on holiday in the present financial climate! We are looking forward to our next exchanges in Paris for Christmas and Sweden for the summer." Catriona Watts
  • "We have had so many contacts we just cannot fit in all the possible holidays! Many thanks for your site!" Roy Weston
  • "I have found the website so easy to navigate and I am really impressed by it. I have uploaded photos and added web links with no problems at all. We found your introductory video helpful and I like the way you can zoom into different regions of a country, look at chart to see the interest in your home and keep notes on your favourites. We haven't got to grips with everything yet but have to say what a brilliant site! I am sure we can look forward to many more successful Intervac holidays."Judith Denholm

Why Join Intervac?

  • "I found Intervac online after doing some research on other house swapping websites. I was attracted to it because it was the best looking website and also the most experienced player in the market. Since joining I have had numerous offers for my apartment and am looking forward to my international holiday! "
  • "We were members of Intervac for several years when our children were young so when we thought about house swapping again Intervac was the first organisation that came to mind. Then we checked out the website and all looked good – we also like the fact that there is a GB link (many of the other organisations seem to be based in USA)."
  • "I had been a pre internet member and have fond memories of exchanges in Brittany, Denmark and darkest England. Some of my friends are members having hopefully listened to my recommendation! Regards-and thank you for your helpful emails."
  • "A couple we met in the pub mentioned Intervac. I never thought anyone would be interested in staying in the NW but we have arranged a swap this summer in Florida and have been offered a couple of swaps in Belgium. So 5 stars for us."
  • "For me Intervac is the market leader, you have been in business for a long time and have a very established brand. Already we have been very impressed by the responses we have received and the honesty and integrity of the potential exchange partners. We have a great Easter break lined up in Paris and our Intervacers have invited us for breakfast at their flat in Montmartre."
  • "We joined Intervac because we we were looking for a way of visiting countries which allowed us to get a better sense of both the place and it's people and culture, than just staying in hotels or similar accommodation. In addition, as we wanted to spend quite a significant amount of time this year and next travelling, we were looking to reduce the overall cost of such journeys."
  • "We decided on Intervac itself following some research on-line and also from talking to friends and work colleagues, who almost unanimously recommended your service. People who have used the service had nothing but praise for it, and the fact that it had been established for over 50 years, helped make up our mind to join Intervac."
  • "We liked the idea of exchanging with other families - so that we experience real life in other countries (rather than be tourists). Also it opens out opportunities to travel to unexpected places and make new friends."

Home Exchange in the Press

A well-thought-out operation

Founded way back in 1953, [Intervac] was originally aimed at teachers, but now has an international membership of about 10,000. It is a well-thought-out operation and prides itself on the personal touch, with organisers in most of its 50-plus countries to ensure stress-free switches for all. The Intervac website offers translation services, alerts you when likely new listings are added to the system and runs a "hot list" for people hoping to exchange within the next eight weeks. It is particularly strong in Europe, covering destinations as diverse as the swanky south of France and the woolly wilds of Finland." Susan d´Arcy, Sunday Times 16 May 2010
